AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Iraqi prime minister has ordered an immediate investigation into the Islamic State attack in Diyala province, which killed 11 Iraqi soldiers.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi announced on Friday that terrorist crimes committed against Iraqi forces in the military in Diyala province will not go unpunished and Iraqi forces will respond promptly to terrorists.
Al-Kadhimi stressed that the Iraqi armed forces must prevent the repetition of these acts and pursue the terrorists everywhere.
Meanwhile, Faleh al-Fayadh, the head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit, said of the ISIS terrorist group’s attack on Al-Azim district in Diyala: “The army and the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit stand together in the fight against terrorism, and Iraq is capable of destroying criminal remnants.”
Al-Fayadh issued a statement condemning the attack and expressing sympathy to the families of the victims, stressing that the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit will use all its facilities in service of the common goal, which is the elimination of terrorism.
More than 10 ISIS operatives stormed an Iraqi army base in Diyala Province early Friday morning. The attack resulted in the death of 11 soldiers.
